KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 — Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin says she is deeply honoured that her song Anta Permana has been included in British monarch King Charles III’s personal playlist.
“Music transcends culture, race, and language. I never expected Anta Permana to be chosen, let alone for King Charles III to recognise that the song is about love,” she said in a radio interview shared on her Instagram, according to a report published in The Star today.
Introducing the track, King Charles described Siti Nurhaliza as an “outstanding Malaysian artiste” and noted that the song tells “a story about love that is stronger than time.”
Songwriter Hael Hussaini, who co-wrote Anta Permana with Ezra Kong, also expressed his disbelief and pride at the selection.
“God be praised, I am proud to be Malaysian,” he wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a Malaysian flag emoji.
Social media users were equally thrilled to see Anta Permana featured in The King’s Music Room, a programme on Apple Music released for the 2025 Commonwealth Day celebrations, according to a report by Bernama.
On Instagram, @i.am.khairul.anwar congratulated Hael and Ezra for crafting a song that resonates globally, calling it “valuable and exclusive.”
Meanwhile, @Md.ikmns praised the song’s melody and lyrics, saying they exude a “royal vibe.”
Facebook user Adam Adnan remarked, “Wow, this is no ordinary feat — perfectly fitting for Siti’s calibre. Her voice is legendary, the true voice of a Malay star.”
Instagram user @NurAinfleur highlighted the song’s significance, noting, “There are 56 Commonwealth countries, yet only 17 songs made it to the playlist, and just four are non-English. Clearly, this wasn’t just about Malaysia being in the Commonwealth.”
King Charles III’s playlist, available on Apple Music, showcases a diverse selection of global hits.
Other featured artistes include Bob Marley, Diana Ross, Kylie Minogue, Grace Jones, Beyoncé, and Michael Bublé.
